Session 4B | Mar 20, 2017
I commented this in class, but I will repeat myself here, for the future generations that will be examining this website
In general, the idea about controlling the computer using our hands in 3D is great. Your proposal to to use rings that will be tracked by a sensor is perfectly rational, if not original (see here) or even necessary to use rings (see here). However, in this class the emphasis may not be on 100% original solutions, but on showing how these solutions contribute to life, and this is where your presentation fails.
So the problem with this work is that it lacks a good storyboard that can show us an example of two of how exactly this invention improves our way of interacting with computer. Also it lacks to show a typical (or extreme) user of this technology. Does it improve productivity in Excel? I doubt so, but if you have a way to show that it does – great! This may come unexpected, so it’s a good way to base the story on it, because everybody expects to see designers or sculptors using this (which is obvious so may not be a good idea to base your story upon). Does it help with people with physical issues that prohibit them from using mouse? Probably – so they can be your “extreme” users, which can be presented in the story.
