About This Session

Today’s session is an introduction to technical and aesthetic aspects of working with digital media.

What Is Digital?

In order to use digital media creatively and productively, it is necessary to first understand how they work. This presentation introduces basic concepts of how digital images are stored, with focus on the differences between raster and vector image formats, and particular aesthetic properties and technical advantages that each of the two digital image types bring.

Composition in Visual Arts

In visual arts and design, composition is an aesthetic arrangement of elements according to the principles that evolved over centuries based on human psychology of perception and the sociocultural context. This presentation is an overview of these rules and practices that artists and designers have at their disposal to create aesthetically appealing work.
